Sellwood Condo

Purcell and Elmslie inspired Sellwood Condo designed by robin rigby fisher

I love working with previous clients, and working with friends is even more fun. Such was the case with our Purcell and Elmslie inspired Condo renovation. The original owner was not into color – the entire condo (all 3000 sq ft of it) was white: walls, ceiling, and carpet!

The condo is long – 70’ from kitchen to family room. The original design was all one room. To create separate spaces, we played with the ceiling (adding a tray ceiling in the kitchen) and designed an arched divider between the living and family room.

The kitchen was completely separate from the dining room so we created an opening. The copper countertop in the kitchen arcs into the dining room as a service counter. The custom buffet houses a wine refrigerator, sink and hot and cold water dispenser. Tall cabinets were designed for linen and table leaf storage.

Because of the construction of the condo – we were not able to relocate plumbing, so a custom 45” wide stainless steel sink was installed with 2 Waterstone faucets. A steam oven, warming drawer and separate Subzero refrigerator and freezer makes the new kitchen work perfectly for a family with 5 chefs!

My favorite part about this kitchen is that I now get to cook here on a regular basis!
